The Interview
============
Sigma Press : What does Indian dancing philosophy means to you ?
Swati : India is a land of great diversity.Its culture has evolved over millions of years . There are numerous dance forms - classical , folk and fusions o as well . In my opinion , "INDIAN DANCING PHILOSOPHY" is an expression - the expression can be of various types of emotions. Spiritual, romantic, celebration of a particular event and so on ....
Sigma Press : When did you start practice ?
Swati : I started at the ripe old age of 7 .
Sigma Press : How difficult is to practice in Kathak dancing way ?
Swati : To excel in any field , one has to be devoted and Kathak is no different . It requires a lot of dedication , numerous hours spent practising and mastering the art . It also requires sacrifices ... I don't get as much time as I would like with my children .
Sigma Press : How popular is this kind of dance all over the world ?
Swati : Kathak , is one of the most popular dance forms around the world . There are other dance forms that borrow movements from Kathak,such as flamenco and the very popular "BOLLYWOOD DANCE".

Sigma Press : Is is accepted by everyone , other cultures or perceptions of movement ? How popular is it far from India ?
Swati : The essence of Kathak is "STORY TELLING"..... Everyone loves stories ! Tales of love are popular all over the world and one of the themes in Kathak is love . Dance is a language that is over borders ! I have had the good fortune to perform in front of audiences from around the world and they have all been appreciative . In fact , in one of my perfomances for a Japanese delegation, I was delighted to see the audience actually mimic and try to copy my dance movements as I delivered them. As a performer , I always try to take my audience on a journey - of love , compassion and above all ,a unique way of expressing emotions through hand gestures and facial expressions .
Sigma Press : Tell us a few things about the way you must eat , in order to be fit enough and ready for your dancing skills .
Swati : I do have to watch my diet and also follow a rigorous exercise regimen . I spend abour three to four hours a day walking , stretching exercises , yoga, dance pracise and swimming as well .
Sigma Press : How do you feel that you are coming to Greece ?
Swati : I am delighted to visit in such a prestigious event in a country that also has a glorious past .
Sigma Press : Tell us a few things about your participation in the festival .
Swati : First and foremost , I would like to say that I am grateful to the Indian council of cultural relations , which is at the forefront of promoting Indian culture around the world for giving me this fantastic opportunity , during the events . I will deliver a few solo performances, some workshops and I would also like to perform combination dances with some of the other performers . I like to "FREE-WHEEL" and blend Kathak with other dance styles , so I am hoping audiences would appreciate my work .
